Westborough – Andrew Liu, an 11th grade Westborough High School student who is also a six-time national champion, will be offering free weekly online chess lessons this summer for local students.
The Intro Beginner—Intermediate class starts July 5 and meets every Tuesday night from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. through Aug. 16. (The only exception is the class will meet Monday, Aug. 8 instead of Tuesday, Aug. 9.)
An Intermediate—Advanced class will meet every Thursday night, starting July 7 and end on Aug. 18.
Liu said that all ages and levels are welcome, more class levels can be added to accommodate, and lesson times can be changed as a group or answer individual’s questions.
Students will need to have Skype, and will need to join the Internet Chess Club (www.chessclub.com, $25 for three month membership, which includes free videos and software). Students will also need to install Blitzln, a free software to play on the Internet Chess Club.
