Obit Laurinda J. FernandesHudson – Laurinda J. (Figueiredo) Fernandes, 89, of Hudson, died Monday, June 27, 2016 at Nemasket Health Care in Middleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Silvestre A. Fernandes, who died in 2010.

Laurinda was born in Hudson, daughter of the late Jose and Joaquina (Cabral) Figueiredo. She was raised in Portugal and resided there until immigrating back to Hudson in 1951.

She was employed as a quality control line supervisor for many years for H.H. Scott Co. and later Data General Co. She was a former member of Christ the King Parish in Hudson, member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson, and member of the Ladies Sodality. She was also a member of the Hudson Portuguese Club.

Laurinda was always full of laughter and fun. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and cooking, and was an avid gardener. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially later with her loving grandchildren and adoring great-grandchildren. Her caring and loving spirit will be cherished by all who loved and knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Anna Sullivan and her husband Brian of Plymouth; her two grandsons, Scott Sullivan and his wife Lynda of Canton and Adam Sullivan of Winchester; her two great-grandchildren, Nora and Connor Sullivan of Canton; her two brothers, Antonio Figueiredo of Hudson and Francisco Figueiredo of Portugal; and her two sisters, Gracinda Figueiredo of Brasil and Maria Machado of South Africa. She was the sister of the late Ana Roque of Hudson and Irene Figueiredo of Brasil. She also leaves her niece, Rose Roque of Hudson, and nephew, Jose Figueiredo of Barre.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, July 2, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery of Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Friday, July 1, from 6-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. (www.tighehamilton.com).
