Shrewsbury – The July 12 Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen’s meeting opened with a moment of silence for the 12 police officers shot in Dallas, Texas.

Billy’s Pub on Clinton Street was also mentioned briefly as it has apparently started offering entertainment without the proper licensing. The board agreed to invite the owner to come before it regarding required licensing.

A special common victualler license was unanimously approved for the Spirit of Shrewsbury 20th anniversary Fall Festival Sept. 23, as was a one-day all-alcoholic beverage license. St. Mary’s Orthodox Church was granted a one-day all-alcoholic beverage license for a church baptism July 16.

The YMCA of Central Massachusetts was granted permission to hold the fifth annual YMCA Borough’s Family 5K race Oct. 15, pending approval by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Robert Pine, of 20 Montgomery Ave., was approved for a one-year term on the Insurance Advisory Committee. John Knight was approved as delegate and John Lebeaux as alternate delegate to the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission for FY2017.

The board reviewed and accepted a deed of easement for public utilities in a discontinued portion of Cherry Street as had been voted at the May Town Meeting.

The board then went into executive session for discussion about collective bargaining involving IAFF Local 4613, town firefighters.
