Obit Peter J. JoncasAuburn/Grafton – Peter J. “PJ” Joncas, 49, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 after being stricken ill at home.

He leaves his children, Maxwell and Carlee Joncas; his former wife, Sherry Joncas; his parents, Leo and Carol (Pichette) Joncas; his sister, Nicole McDonald and her husband Brian; his brother, James Joncas and his wife Marea; his brother-in-law, Sean Lorden; and his nieces and nephews, Evan and Blake McDonald, Patrick, Ryan and Kelsie Lorden, Jackie Joncas, Nikole Nault and Zachery Rizzitano. He also leaves his former mother- and father-in-law, Loretta and Richard Nault. His sister, Claudette (Joncas) Lorden, passed away in June 2015.

PJ was born Dec. 31, 1966 in Worcester and grew up in Grafton. Following his graduation from Grafton High School, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Westfield State College.

PJ and Sherry lived in Riverside, Calif. for five years before returning to Massachusetts. He worked for several years at Fidelity Investments and more recently for the Seven Hills Foundation. Away from work, he treasured spending time with his son and daughter more than anything else, and during the summers you were likely to find him fishing or boating at the lake with family and friends, teeing off at a local golf course, or when he could find the time taking an afternoon ride on his motorcycle.

He will be most remembered for his kind soul and gentle manner that was a signature of how he lived. He was a devoted father, son, grandson, brother, and uncle. From the moment anyone met PJ, they were blessed with a good friend in their life.

Please honor PJ with a memorial donation for his children at The Joncas Children’s Benefit Fund, FBO Max and Carlee Joncas, c/o Savers Cooperative Bank, 38 Auburn St., Auburn, MA 01501.

All are welcome to gather with PJ’s family and friends Thursday, July 28, from 4-8 p.m., at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton, followed by a brief remembrance service at the close of the calling hours.
