Region – The extended heat wave this summer has residents racing for relief whether that’s a local pool, the beach or an air-conditioned building.

Not surprising, officials across the region, worried about drought conditions after a particularly mild winter, have issued strict water bans.

The tinderbox conditions also bring inherent dangers to local firefighters who have had to cope with a rash of brush fires spurred by the very dry conditions.

And for those who just can’t stand the heat, there appears to be little relief in sight with the forecast calling for temps in the upper 80’s and low 90’s into August and precious little rain on the horizon.
