Region  –  Hundreds of athletes from across the state traveled to Marlborough, Northborough and Stow Aug. 27-28 to participate in the Special Olympics Massachusetts 2016 Tournament of Champions.

The New England Baseball Complex (NEBC) in Northborough hosted the young athletes over the two days for softball games. Other locales around the region hosted cycling, golf and bocce events.

In addition to the competition on Saturday, athletes, their families, a team of over 200 volunteers and members of the public enjoyed a Community Sports Experience at the Yawkey Sports Training Center in Marlborough.

The event was supported by community partners: Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant’s office, Avidia Bank, DCU for Kids, St. Mary’s Credit Union, Unum, Embassy Suites Marlborough and the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation.
