Angela was born in Jamaica, daughter of Percival and Angela (Bunnamann) Gardner. She moved from Jamaica to New York City in 1952. While living in New York, she was a bookkeeper and a seamstress, and became a wife and mother.

Angela and her family relocated to Grafton in 1958; at that time, she worked as a waitress before opening her ceramic studio, “JT Ceramics.” The years passed and Angela and her husband moved to North Oxford and made it their home for many years.
