shsShrewsbury – The Shrewsbury High School Girls’ Volleyball team will hold its fifth annual “Dig Pink” matches Tuesday, Oct. 4, versus Wachusett Regional High School. The JV-1 and JV-2 teams will play at 5 p.m. followed by varsity at 6 p.m. Admission is $1 for students and seniors; $5 for adults…but only $3 if you wear pink!

Every year Shrewsbury Volleyball partners with the Side-Out Foundation. The term “side-out” in volleyball means regaining control of the ball. The goal of the Side-Out Foundation is to help people with breast cancer regain control of their lives. The money raised each year goes to the Side-Out Foundation, which they use to provide high-quality patient support as well as to fund breast cancer research and clinical trials. This year Side-Out has started their third clinical trial, which is their largest to date.

Last year Side-Out was awarded the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) Community Champion Research & Hope Award. In 2015 alone, $1.2 million was raised nationwide through Dig Pink events. Shrewsbury has contributed to this, raising over $2,000 last year.
