Marlborough – “Fireball Run,” an adventure travel television series that aids in recovering America’s missing children, has chosen Marlborough to be featured as a midway checkpoint for an upcoming episode.
Coinciding with the city’s annual Heritage Festival and Oktoberfest celebrations, “Fireball Run” will be filming in Marlborough Saturday, Oct. 1, from 12 – 2 p.m.
“Fireball Run” is an eight-day, 2,000-mile life-size trivial pursuit game that features city history, places and sites. Forty driving teams compete to solve clues that lead to points of interest, where contestants can complete challenges and win points.
About 150 cast and crew will make their way through downtown Marlborough along Main Street, as well as a number of other currently undisclosed locations around the city. Mayor Arthur Vigeant will give an interview in front of City Hall at 1 p.m. The resulting episode will showcase Marlborough and its history in a 5- to 15-minute segment.
“This is a great community event for the city of Marlborough,” said Meredith Harris, executive director of the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). “We’ve had Hollywood film productions take place here before, but nothing that showcases our city in such a direct way.”
“Plus, the ‘Fireball Run’ filming will coincide with one of Marlborough’s biggest and liveliest annual events—the Heritage Festival and Oktoberfest—which makes it a perfect opportunity for the show’s contestants and viewers to see what our wonderful city has to offer,” she added. “We encourage all Marlborough residents to come out and show their enthusiasm for the city and perhaps get a chance to be on TV themselves.”
The show has approximately 4 million viewers and is currently streamed on Roku, iTunes, Amazon Prime, and Google Play, with a pending agreement to include Netflix. Proceeds from “Fireball Run” go toward aiding to recover America’s missing children.
