Hudson – Mary A. Haley, 89, of Hudson, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband, William F. Haley Jr.
She was born July 28, 1927 in Dorchester, the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Conway. She was a graduate of Boston College School of Nursing (B.S. ‘52, M.A.) and Boston University (Doctor of Nursing Science DNSc).
For many years, Mary was a Professor of Nursing at Worcester State University, Fitchburg State University, and Framingham State University. She was a passionate advocate for civic involvement, and received the Democracy in Action award from the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 2010.
Mary is survived by her loving children, William and his wife Nancy of Meredith, N.H., Michael and his wife Bonnie of Andover, Robert and his wife Cheryl of Farmington Hills, Mich., and daughter Sheila and her husband Walter of Rumford, R.I. She was the devoted and beloved grandmother of William, Matthew, Kyle, Leila, Evan, Naella, and great-grandmother of Oliver. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Mary Nolan and Margaret Anderson; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
The family wishes to thank Anne Marie Siebeika and the staff at Marlboro Hills Rehabilitation and Health Care Center who cared for her during her last illness.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visiting hour Thursday, Nov. 3, from 9-10 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 10 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Holliston will immediately follow. (www.tighehamilton.com).
