Assabet Valley Mastersingers present concert of peace Nov. 13

Region – On Sunday, Nov. 13, Assabet Valley Mastersingers (AVM) and orchestra with Algonquin Regional High School (ARHS) Chorus and mezzo Catherine Hedberg will perform a concert, “The Time Has Come for Peace,” Sunday, Nov. 13, at 3:30 p.m. at ARHS, 79 Bartlett St., Northborough.

The concert, under the direction of AVM Artistic Director Robert P. Eaton, will set the theme for this season with inspiration from Nelson Mandela’s inauguration speech: “The time for healing…to bridge the chasm…has come…Let freedom reign.”

The principal composition featured will be Karl Jenkins’ “The Armed Man: A Mass For Peace”a rousing opus setting sacred and secular texts, including poetry, The Koran, the Hindu Mahabharata and others within a Christian Mass framework.

Concert tickets may be purchased through the AVM website or at David French Music Co., Westborough; Shattuck Pharmacy, Northborough; Shrewsbury Federal Credit Union; English Garden Florist, Southborough; Serendipity Jewelry, Art & Whimsy, Hudson; and both Joy-Den Jewelers and Main Street Café in Marlborough. Advance sales from the ticket outlets in these six towns are discounted $3 from the general price of $25 and $20 for students and senior citizens.  Active duty military and all veterans will receive free admission. ARHS is accessible to the physically challenged and large print programs will be offered.
