Marlborough – John T. “Butch” Colacchio, 76, died Friday evening, Nov. 11, 2016 after a short period of failing health. He was born in Marlborough, the son of the late John and Alice (D’Amico) Colacchio, and lived here most of his life.

He worked many years as a tool and die maker and as a carpenter for many companies in the area.

Butch was a founding member of the original Marlborough Youth Football and coached for 30 years. He also served as an assistant coach for Marlborough High School for a short time and coached youth hockey in town for many years.

He is survived by three sons, John Colacchio Jr. and his wife Rocio of Roswell, N.M., Ernie Colacchio of Hudson, and Alan Colacchio of Marlborough; two daughters, Donna Charbonneau and her husband Alan of Marlborough and Kim Simpson of Marlborough; two brothers, Thomas Colacchio and his wife Carol of Berlin and Stephen Colacchio and his wife Marylynne of Marlborough; two sisters, Catherine Kyper and her husband Richard of Marlborough and Amy Smith and her husband Harlan of Marlborough; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother,  David Colacchio.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m., in the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St., Marlborough. Visiting hours will be held from 5-8 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Leukemia Treatment Program at Mass General Hospital, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114.
