Northborough – Perrin LoRusso has loved cheetahs since his father Seth bought him a stuffed toy at Disney World when he was 4 years old.
“It’s my most prized possession,” Perrin said.
Three years ago, with some assistance from the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF), he did a project on cheetahs for his Cub Scout Science Badge. Now, at age 9, the Lincoln Street School fifth-grade student is hoping to help the endangered cats by raising $5,000, which is the cost to provide care for one rescued cheetah each year.
Perrin will be having a bake sale and donation drive on International Cheetah Day, Sunday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Coffeelands, 50 High St., Clinton. He is also collecting bottles and cans and accepting other donations to help raise funds to reach his goal. Those may be brought to the Coffeehouse Dec. 4 as well. Scouts from Northborough Den 25 will be assisting in the effort.
Monetary donations may be mailed to Perrin LoRusso, P.O. Box 435, Northborough, MA 01532.
Perrin is hoping that other cheetah fans will support his efforts by coming to Coffeeland the day of the fundraiser.
“They are really nice there to help me out,” he said. “I really hope that I can then help the cheetahs.”
