Marlborough – Since she was four years old, Megan Saari has been kicking around the soccer ball, and at age seven she began playing competitively. Fast forward to 2016:  she just signed a commitment to play soccer at Vassar College, ready to take her passion to new heights.

Playing either center midfield or center back positions, Saari has been a member of the Marlborough High School soccer team since her freshman year and was captain of the varsity team this year. Supported by her family throughout her many years of playing soccer, Saari instantly fell in love with the sport.  “Every time I step on to the field, it puts a smile on my face.  I love the team aspect and the intensity and passion that it takes to get better,” she said.

When asked what advice she would give to students on achieving their personal goals, Saari offered these sage words: “Never give up no matter what anyone says or thinks.  There have been points where I have gotten really down on myself after I have a bad game or practice, but if you just keep a positive mindset and put a lot of work into what you love, you will achieve great things.  Also, remember to have fun with it, that’ the most important part!”
