Westborough – Carolyn Spring, a well-known Westborough attorney, has always been a passionate New York Jets fan since she was a child growing up in Long Island. Her son, Matt, however, is an equally passionate New England Patriots fan.

“Whenever football is on, he watches it on the big television, and I end up watching it on a smaller one,” she said. “Our kitchen is neutral territory.”

So when the two teams met up this past Sunday, mother and son decided to make a friendly bet – who’s ever team lost would have to publicly wear paraphernalia of the winning team.

“I was actually feeling hopeful,” Carolyn said, when her team was tied with the Patriots at one point.

But alas for her, Tom Brady (even with a suspected injury) and his teammates rallied for the win, to defeat the Jets, 22-17.

Although sad about the outcome, Carolyn accepted her fate and dressed in Patriots gear for her BNI meeting and then the Rotary Club of Westborough meeting at lunchtime. She even posted photos of herself wearing the gear on Facebook (although her customary smile was missing).

“A lot of people enjoyed this,” she said, of her lost bet. “But it’s ok. I am glad to spread a little happiness into the world!”

It's not easy being a New York Jets fan! (Especially when they play the Patriots!)
