SELCO sponsors toy drive, ‘Share the Warmth’ Program

Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury Electric and Cable Operations (SELCO) will collect new unwrapped toys for children from infants to teens. Those who donate will receive a free energy efficient LED light bulb courtesy of SELCO.

St. Anne’s Human Services will distribute toys to local children during the holiday season through the Santa’s Toy Chest program.

Toys can be dropped off at the SELCO office, 100 Maple Ave., during regular business hours through Wednesday, Dec. 21.

SELCO is also asking Shrewsbury residents to “Share the Warmth” with neighbors who are having difficulty paying their electric bills this winter. Fixed incomes, unemployment, illness and other economic problems make it difficult for some Shrewsbury families and senior citizens to afford even life’s basic needs.

Residents are asked to give generously using the envelope included in the November SELCO bill, or click the “Donate to Share the Warmth” icon at www.SELCOEZpay.com. One hundred percent of donations go directly to Shrewsbury residents in need.

If you are in need of assistance, Share the Warmth applications are available through Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services, St. Anne’s Community Services, the First Congregational Church, St. Mary’s Church, and at the Shrewsbury Council on Aging Senior Center. All Share the Warmth applications must be received at the SELCO office by Wednesday, March 1.
