Hudson – Anaïs Chalendard and Sabi Varga, both professional dancers with Boston Ballet, will come to Hudson to perform as the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier in Symphony Pro Musica and MetroWest Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker” Saturday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 18, at 3:30 p.m., at Hudson High School, 69 Brigham St.
This fully staged performance of Tchaikovsky’s ballet, based on the story by E.T.A. Hoffmann, is the only one in the region to feature a full orchestra of 70 musicians and guest artists from Boston Ballet. The production also features local dancers and beautiful costumes and scenery.
The event marks Symphony Pro Musica and MetroWest Ballet’s first collaborative effort. Under the direction of Jessica Wilson, MetroWest Ballet has brought to life this holiday favorite for local audiences many times over the past decade, but collaborating with a live orchestra led by conductor, Mark Churchill, and working with Boston Ballet artists has elevated the caliber of the production to one rarely seen this far outside of Boston.
Hudson is home to Symphony Pro Musica, now its 34th season, and to MetroWest Ballet, now in its second season in the town after spending a decade in Marlborough.
As part of their mission, Symphony Pro Musica will offer free tickets for students in grades K-12, with a limit of 300 tickets per show. Tickets can be purchased through the Symphony Pro Musica website, www.symphonypromusica.org/2016-17-34th-season. You may also call 978-562-0939 for more information.
