Telescope available to residents at Westborough Library

Westborough – Westborough residents can now borrow a telescope from the Westborough Public Library to explore the night sky.

The telescope can be reserved using the library’s online museum pass system. The telescope is available for Westborough residents over the age of 18 with a valid library card and photo ID. The telescope can be borrowed for two weeks with no renewal and a $10 per day late fee. If the telescope is not picked up on the reservation date, the reservation will be cancelled.

The Orion StarBlast telescope has been modified by members of the Aldrich Astronomical Society so that it is easy to use, with no assembly needed for viewing. The goal of the society is to help foster scientific literacy, stimulate an interest in astronomy, and provide people who have never looked through a telescope the chance to experience the excitement that comes from discovery. They have partnered with public libraries to make telescopes accessible to the public.
