A lifelong resident of Northborough, Jean was the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Foster) Woodward. She graduated from Northborough High School in 1944 and the University of Massachusetts in 1948, with a degree in Psychology.
She went to work in personnel at H.H. Brown Shoe in Worcester, where she met her future husband, William McGranaghan, who predeceased her in 2005.
She leaves her daughters, Mary Ann and her husband Harry Ingle and Jean Marie and her husband Liam Kearney; her grandsons, Thomas Ingle and his fiancé Jaclyn Cohen and William and Daniel Kearney; her great-granddaughter, Jordan Ingle; her niece and goddaughter, Joyce Woodward, with whom she a had close relationship; and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Woodward, and her wonderful goddaughter, Kathleen McGranaghan.
She was a devoted wife, a truly loving mother, a cherished grandmother, and a delighted great-grandmother. Together with her husband, she enjoyed traveling and watching and tailgating at Holy Cross football games. Most of all, her family was everything to her. She especially enjoyed family time at her “beach house” on Cape Cod. Perhaps her greatest gift was that when you spent time with her, she made you feel like you were the most important person in the world. She will be missed.
