Region – Below is a recent statement from the National Weather Service regarding the severe cold coming later tomorrow. Please be extremely careful with any use of candles, flammable decorations or alternative heat sources. Bitter cold and howling winds make it even more difficult to fight a fire and greatly increase the risk to our firefighters.
“Here’s a summary of potential weather hazards Thursday night and Friday. Along with the bitterly cold air moving into the region comes the potential for strong and possibly damaging winds.
Be prepared! Plan to dress warmly in layers to protect yourself against the cold. Secure any loose outdoor items today or Thursday to prevent them from being damaged by the wind.
Also, be aware of the possibility of scattered power outages due to the strong winds. If you have an alternate heat source, make sure it is in a safe and well-ventilated location, and you know how to use it properly!”
