Grafton – The Grafton High School Indians boys’ basketball team held off a late surge by the Hudson High School Hawks to win their home opener by a score of 61-59 in a game played Dec. 19.
After trailing by 11 at the end of the third quarter, Hudson pulled within 1, with the score at 58-57 and 1:18 remaining in the game. Despite several scoring opportunities for Hudson, Grafton’s defense was able to hold off their late surge and preserve the win for the Indians.
Grafton junior Kyle Sawtelle was the game’s top scorer with 26 points, with junior Will Herndon contributing 18. Hudson had 4 players score double figures, with Kris O’Brien and Mike Davis scoring 13 points each, Joey Camaratta with 11, and Tim Person with 10.
With the win, Grafton’s record improved to 2-1 on the season while Hudson fell to 0-4.
