Shrewsbury – Central One Federal Credit Union donated $1,000 to Northborough Education Foundation’s (NEF) Chromebooks for Classrooms campaign Nov. 21. Kate Shaw, Central One branch manager in Northborough, presented the check to Marile Borden, who accepted the contribution on behalf of the foundation.
The Chromebooks for Classrooms, a technology initiative commenced by the NEF, seeks to raise $50,000 by the end of the 2016-17 school year. Funds raised will help purchase 200 new Google Chromebooks for Northborough schools. Google Chromebook, a flexible and cost-effective device, can enhance learning for students and have tremendous impact on creativity, creation and exploration in classrooms.
“It is great to support and collaborate with an organization that shares our firm belief in providing students with a solid foundation of skills needed in the 21st century. The NEF’s initiative to provide more devices to our schools aligns well with our effort to strengthen the communities we serve,” stated David Kaiser, assistant vice president, retail services.
