McCarthy promoted to Southborough Police Department sergeant

Southborough – Southborough Police Chief Kenneth Paulhus has announced that Detective Sean P. McCarthy has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. McCarthy is a 10-year veteran who has served in the Patrol and Detective Units. He is also the department’s lead firearms instructor, drug recognition expert (DRE), and is assigned to the Worcester County Regional Drug Task Force. He has been awarded the Police Commendation Award by the Framingham Police, Police Service Award, and has been recognized as the Officer of the Quarter.

The ceremony awarding his sergeant’s badge took place Dec. 19 in the Southborough Town House after a unanimous vote of approval from the Board of Selectmen. McCarthy will be assigned as the officer in charge of the overnight (A) shift.
