obit-dennis-wadsworthHolland, Mass. – Dennis G. Wadsworth, 64, of Holland, Mass., formerly of Westborough, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at the Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge. He was the husband of Mary A. (Walden) Wadsworth, to whom he was married for 35 years.

Born in Long Island, N.Y., he was the son of the late Maurice T. and Dorothy (Maulsby) Groen. He was raised and educated in Harvard and Brookline, and was a graduate of Brookline High school. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Clark University and a master’s degree from Notre Dame.

Dennis was the Associate Director of Graduate Programs at Clark University.

He was a member of the Woodville Rod and Gun Club and the Pikers, and enjoyed ice fishing and horseshoes.

He had been a resident of Holland since August of last year, previously living in Westborough for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Tech Sergeant Geoffrey W. Wadsworth, U.S. Air Force, and his wife Rebecca of RAF Mildenhall, England; one daughter, Laura M. Kinney and her husband Gerald of Howell, N.J.; one sister, Georgiana Groen of Cape Cod; his step-father, Charles Campbell of Las Cruces, N.M.; his step-brother, Peter Campbell of Virginia; brother-in-law, John Walden of Westborough; sister-in-law, Deborah Livingston of Northborough; two grandchildren, Conner and Abigail Kinney; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Friday, Jan. 6, from 4-7 p.m., at the David A. Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. His funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 7, at 1 p.m.,. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
