Southborough/Sebastian, Fla. – Dr. Edwin A. Meserve, 95, of Southborough and Sebastian, Fla., died Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at Marlborough Hospital after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Marilyn (Moses) Meserve for the past 68 years.

Dr. Ed graduated from the University of New Hampshire and, in 1943, joined the U.S. Army Medical Administration Corps, serving until 1946. After his time in the service, he went to Boston University Medical School on the G.I. Bill. In his third year of medical school, he married his fellow student, Marilyn Moses.

Following medical school, Dr. Ed went to six years of surgical training, including Pondville Cancer Center. He then enjoyed a 30-year career as a General Surgeon at Marlborough Hospital.

Dr. Ed enjoyed summers with his family at Ocean Park, Maine and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee. In his spare time, his passion was tinkering with automobiles and the outdoor life, especially skiing. He was a stock car racing enthusiast and also volunteered his profession as a track doctor at Westborough Speedway. He spent much of his retirement years in Sebastian, Fla., where he continued to enjoy boating, fixing his 1940 Chevrolet, and bike rides with Marilyn.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, John Meserve and Nancy Schroeder of Douglas, Jay Meserve and his wife Julie of Leicester, Don Meserve and his wife Mary of Ticonderoga, N.Y., Tom Meserve and Kathy Bellemare of Merrimack, N.H., Chuck Meserve of Southborough; and Beth El-Massih and her husband Fadi of Southborough; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two nieces and third nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary W. Lockhart of Canada.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, Jan. 15, from 1-4 p.m., at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough. A funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 16, at 10:30 a.m., at Pilgrim Church, 15 Common St., Southborough. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Newton Cemetery.
