Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury High School hosted six schools for a Midland-Wachusett League Indoor Track meet Jan. 11. This was a dual meet where schools were paired against each other for scoring purposes.
The Marlborough boys defeated Nashoba 57-34 while the Nashoba girls topped Marlborough 48.5-42.5. Marlborough’s Erin Giugno won the girls’ 1000 meter run (3:19.20) and the boys’ 4×440 yard relay team took first with a time of 3:53.00. Yossef Naim won the boys’ 600 meter run (1:28.60), Sabastian Pascale boys’ high jump (6 ft. 4 in.), and Manny Teo boys’ shot put (59 ft. 9 in.)
The Shrewsbury boys defeated Algonquin 68-23, and the Shrewsbury girls topped Algonquin 53.5-37.5. The Shrewsbury girls’ 4×440 yard relay team won with a time of 4:41.20. Other first place winners for Shrewsbury include Julia Perugina girls’ 55 meter dash (7.84), Reagan Gillooly girls’’ 600 meter run (1:48.50), boys 4×220 yard relay (1:42.00), and Christopher Matthews boys’ 55 meter dash (6.84).
Notable first places finishes for Algonquin include the girls’ 4×220 yard relay (2:01.10), Tess Reyes girls’ 1 mile run (5:34.20), Matthew Madamba 300 meter dash (38.64), and Nick Carulli boys’ 55 meter hurdles (8.74)
The final pairing had the Ayer-Shirley boys and girls teams both defeating their respective Murdock teams.
