obit-joseph-r-barryWestborough – Joseph R. Barry, 85, of Westborough, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017 at the CareOne at Millbury. He was the husband of Janet W. (Howard) Barry, to whom he was married for 51 years.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late William F. and Helen F. (Sullivan) Barry, and was educated in Worcester schools. He served with the U.S. Navy, and was stationed on the USS Des Moines and also served four years with the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Joseph was employed as a sales manager for Bancroft Motors in Worcester for 42 years, retiring in 2007. He enjoyed smoking his pipe, watching football, and old westerns.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Bernard Barry of Colorado Springs, Colo. and John Barry of Worcester; one sister, Mary Asnes of Framingham; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William Barry and Eleanor Senecal.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to JHC HomeCare and Hospice and to CareOne at Millbury for their kindness and compassion.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 23, at 10:00 a.m., in St. Matthew’s Church, 105 Southville Rd., Southborough. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Westborough. Calling hours at the David A. Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Sunday, Jan. 22, from 2-4 p.m.
