Hudson – Ines M. Monteiro, 91, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus after an illness. She was born in Santa Maria, Azores the daughter of Joao Machado Leonardo and Rita Enilia Monteiro, and had lived most of her life in Hudson.
Her loving husband of 35 years, Francisco Chaves Monteiro, passed away in 1985. She leaves two children, Lidia M. Rego and her husband Jose S. Rego of Hudson and Frank Monteiro of Hudson; two brothers, Francisco Leonardo and David Leonardo; three grandchildren, Diane Montanez, Sandra Rego, and Lisa Cabral; six great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
Ines was a weaver at Thomas Taylor’s for 25 years before retiring.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Church. She loved to spend time with her family and crocheting. She was a great story teller. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
Calling hours will be held Monday, Feb. 6, from 4-7 p.m., in the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. Funeral services for Ines will be held from the funeral home Tuesday, Feb. 7, with a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
