Fernand R. Dubois, 91, of ShrewsburyShrewsbury – Fernand R. “Pete” Dubois, 91, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Westborough, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 at home. He was the husband of the late Simone R. (Frappier) Dubois.

Born in Woonsocket, R.I., he was the son of the late Henry and Alexandrina (Durand) Dubois, and was educated in Woonsocket schools. During WWII, he served with the United States Navy.

Pete was employed as an export packer for Bay State Abrasives for many years, retiring in 1987.

He was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church and a member of the AMVETS, and has been a resident of Shrewsbury for two months, previously living in Westborough since 1961.

Pete is survived by two daughters, Linda D. McCarthy and her husband Thomas of Devon, Pa. and Diane D. O’Brien of Shrewsbury; one brother, John Dubois and his wife Denise of N. Smithfield, R.I.; and four grandchildren, Thomas McCarthy, Elizabeth McCarthy, Michelle O’Brien, and Michael O’Brien. He was the father-in-law of the late Thomas M. O’Brien and brother of the late Lucien Dubois, Yvonne Rieman, Bella Gallant, Rita Cullerton, and Maurice Dubois.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 9, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial, with military honors, will be held Friday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m., at St. Charles Cemetery in Blackstone. Calling hours at the David A. Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 4-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
