Robert W. Phaneuf, 93, of ShrewsburyShrewsbury – Robert W. Phaneuf, 93, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 at Southgate of Shrewsbury.

He was born and raised in Hudson, the son of Wilrose and Helen (O’Donnell) Phaneuf, and had lived in Shrewsbury since 1999.

His loving wife of 58 years, Elizabeth P. (Donovan) Phaneuf, passed away in 2003. He is survived by his children, Paul R. Phaneuf and his wife Susan of Marlborough and Dianne Carter and her husband Kevin of Shrewsbury; his brother, Richard Phaneuf of Shrewsbury; five grandchildren, Shaughn Dwyer of Phoenix Ariz., Coleen Prendergast of Charlotte, N.C., Aimee Wilson of Shrewsbury, Robert Phaneuf of Acton, and Jenna Smith of Natick; three great-grandchildren, Sofia Prendergast and Stella and Henry Phaneuf; and many nieces and nephews. His sister, Natalie Gay, predeceased him.

Robert attended St. Michael’s Grammar School and was a 1941 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Waltham. Following high school, he attended Worcester Trade School. He served his country as a Technician 5th Grade in the 806th Army Air Force Base Unit during WWII.

Robert was a manager at Raytheon for many years. After his retirement, he loved to spend the summers in Yarmouth and the winters in Florida with his wife. He was a member of St. Michael’s Church.

The family would like to thank the staff of Southgate of Shrewsbury and Worcester Home Care for their care and compassion.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 4, from 9-11 a.m., in the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home Memorial Chapel (previously Christ the King Church), 48 Central St., Hudson. Funeral services for Robert will be held in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson.
