Westborough – Those visitors needing to attend to business in the Town Clerk’s office at the Westborough Town Hall on Friday mornings this year will be greeted as usual by the friendly and professional staff. But what might catch those visitors off guard are the outfits Town Clerk Wendy Mickel, Assistant Town Clerk Deborah Ledoux and Administrative Assistant Susan Bush will be wearing.
The three ladies have decided to dress in period outfits as a way to celebrate and promote the town’s 300th anniversary this year.
Mickel came up with the idea, she said, and the other two ladies agreed to dress up as well.
“We are all townies here,” Mickel said of the Town Clerk’s office. “So we thought this would be a fun thing to do.
Each outfit, which the ladies bought online, features a long dress with petticoat underneath, apron and cap.
Since Town Hall is only open for half a day on Fridays (7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.) that day was perfect for the staff to dress up, Mickel said.
Not certain yet is if other town departments will follow suit.
“It would be fun if they did!” Mickel said.
“But we just hope that everyone gets excited and gets involved in helping to plan the events for this anniversary year,” she added.
