Margaret Ebacher, SSCh, of MarlboroughMarlborough – Sister Margaret Ebacher, SSCh, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 at Marie Esther Health Center, 720 Boston Post Rd., Marlborough.

Sr. Margaret was born in Amesbury, the daughter of the late Phileas and Rose (Pinault) Ebacher. An educator throughout her religious life, she earned a Master Degree in Education as well as in Theology.

She began her teaching career in Pawtucket, R.I., where she taught kindergarten for four years before being transferred to Loring Villa in Salem. She enjoyed the next 28 years there where she taught kindergarten for many of those years before being named principal of the high school until the schools closing.

She later ministered to the migrants in Apollo Beach, Fla. She remained in Florida where she was then assigned to Rocky Creek in Tampa and was a member of the office staff.

All through her life, Sr. Margaret was known for her generosity, openness, and love for each person she met. She had a magnetic personality, resulting in a multitude of friends. She reached out to God’s little ones, whether the children she taught or those who were needy in any way.

In 1996, Sister moved to the St. Chretienne Retirement Residence in Marlborough where she had various duties. While living at the retirement residence, Sr. Margaret was able to spend time with her sisters, Sr. Marie –Therese Ebacher, SSCh and the late Sr. Beatrice Ebacher, SSCh, who died in 2014.

Besides her sister, Sr. Marie Therese Ebacher, SSCh, of Marlborough, she is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Lucian, Raymond, Roger (Fr. Jerome, O.C.S.O.) and Joseph Ebacher, and Sr. Beatrice Ebacher, SSCh.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, March 1, from 4-7 p.m., at the St. Chretienne Retirement Residence, 197 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 2, at 10:30 a.m., at the Chapel of the St. Chretienne Retirement Residence. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Haverhill Road, Amesbury.
