Region – “The Poet Sings,” a choral program, will be presented by Assabet Valley Mastersingers (AVM) at St. Mark’s School, 25 Marlboro Road (Route 85) in Southborough at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 19. Remarkable poems by authors such as Blake, Byron and Wordsworth will come to life in settings by accomplished composers.
During the concert the eminent poet, scholar, teacher, and classical music critic Dr. Lloyd Schwartz will read individual poems for each musical setting to follow. Prior to the concert, at 2:30 p.m., Schwartz will lead an informative discussion of poetry and music in the concert hall.
St. Mark’s auditorium is accessible to the physically challenged. There will be alternative parking at Woodward School, 28 Cordaville Road (Route 85) with a free shuttle service. Large print programs will be offered to those desiring enhanced readability.
