Northborough – Fire Chief David Parenti introduced Northborough’s newest firefighter and paramedic to the Board of Selectmen at their Feb. 27 meeting. Dylan Kessler was selected after a long process out of a field of eight candidates.
“Dylan stood out and exhibited real passion,” Parenti said.
Kessler comes from Connecticut and most recently worked for AMR in Springfield. He is a new paramedic and will be going through the Fire Academy starting June 2. Until then, Kessler will undergo training and will go out on ambulance calls. His first shift with the Fire Department was March 5.
Several members of the Fire Department staff were present to support their new colleague and Selectman Leslie Rutan asked them to introduce themselves.
“Thank you very much for your show of support,” she said. “We are very proud of our Department and thank you for being here. I think it’s important that the community knows who you are and understands all the hard work that you do.”
She had the opportunity to interview Kessler, and she then added, “Dylan you were a stand-out.”
The rest of the board agreed and welcomed him aboard. Kessler will be officially sworn-in at a later date.
