Boston – The Shrewsbury High School boys hockey team capped a near perfect season with a 3-1 win over Old Rochester/Fairhaven in the State Division 3 finals Sunday, March 18 at the TD Garden in Boston.

After a scoreless first period, Shrewsbury scored two goals in the second period.  A Liam Quinlivan shot, with an assist from brother Anthony Quinlivan, found the net.  Tyler Borys, with assists from brothers Jack and James Tepper, also found the net, putting Shrewsbury up 2-0.

Just 37 seconds into the third period, senior captain Matt Ward scored giving the Colonials a commanding lead, with both Quinlivan brothers assisting on the goal.  Old Rochester/Fairhaven managed their only goal of the game just 34 seconds later.

Shrewsbury wrapped up their near perfect season with a 23-0-1 record, their only blemish being a 3-3 tie against Wachusett in a February regular season game.  This was Shrewsbury’s fourth state hockey title.
