Hudson – Congresswoman Niki Tsongas will be in Hudson Saturday, May 20 to introduce “Take Action in Your Community: Get Informed. Get Involved,” an event which brings concerned citizens together with elected officials and local organizations to learn what they can do to help those in need. A number of social justice and community service groups who need hands-on volunteers will have tables and attendees will have the opportunity to talk with these groups about their mission and find out how to get involved at any level.

At a time when so many people are frustrated with just watching events in our country unfold, this is an opportunity to do something.

There are a number of private organizations that help with issues which include poverty, substance abuse, children and families in need, the environment, justice reform, and immigration. Come and learn about the groups that are servicing those in need in the local district. Get informed about the needs of your neighbors and get involved with one or more organizations. State Representative Kate Hogan (D-Stow) will address this issue and State Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton) will sum up the morning by describing what the state of Massachusetts is doing to help those in need and what legislation is proposed for the future.

“Take Action in Your Community” will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Unitarian Church of Marlboro and Hudson, 80 Main St., Hudson. The Hudson Democratic Town Committee will be hosting the event. For more information, contact Jane Chertoff at 508-277-3995 or [email protected].
