Ed leaves his loving wife of 64 years, Elizabeth (Clifford) Walsh, and his two sons and their wives, Joe and Karen of Shrewsbury and Tom and Vicki of Sutton. He is also survived by his brother, John and wife Mary of Oxford, and his five grandchildren, Sarah, Amy, Tommy, Jenny, and Sam, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his son, James, of Amherst, and his brother, Charles and wife Claire, of Worcester.
Ed was born in Worcester to the late Thomas and Gertrude (Farrell) Walsh. Ed met the love of his life, Betty, while attending Saint Peter’s High School. He enjoyed over a 40-year career with Massachusetts Electric, retiring in 1993.
At Massachusetts Electric, he found both work that he loved and many lifelong friends.
He was a dedicated Patriots fan, and was known to pace the floor to ensure they put a win on the board. In his retirement, he found great pleasure on the golf course and was a member of the Greendale Men’s Club.
Ed’s family was his utmost accomplishment and pride. He most enjoyed having his best friend, Betty, always by his side, and treasured time well-spent with his family and friends. He will be forever missed.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Ed Wednesday, May 17, from 4-7 p.m., at St. Mary of the Hills, 630 Cross St., Boylston, where Ed was a longtime parishioner. Ed’s funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 18, at 10 a.m., also at St. Mary of the Hills. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Boylston.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in Ed’s name to St. Mary of the Hills Parish, 630 Cross St., Boylston, MA 01505, would be appreciated.
