Northborough – The Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks boys lacrosse team defeated fourth-ranked Shrewsbury by a score of 14-8 in a game played May 24. With the win, Algonquin qualifies for the playoffs.
Senior Chris Skinner scored 5 goals and sophomore Dom Russo scored 3 for Algonquin in the victory. Alec Buduo and Kyle Spagnuolo both scored a pair of goals for Shrewsbury.
Despite their overall 8-10 record, Algonquin finished 5-3 in Mid-Wach A, which put them in a tie for second place with Groton-Dunstable and earned them a playoff berth. Shrewsbury now has an overall record of 13-7, and a first place 7-1 Mid Wach A record.
