Shrewsbury – Kilaharee “KK” Holly (McCreary) Legro, 14, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully Friday, May 26, 2017 at Boston Children’s Hospital after bravely fighting a brain tumor she called “Charlie” for over 25 months, surpassing the median survival range…a fact for which she was very proud.
Kilaharee was born in Springfield on July 28, 2002. KK and her mom, Tanya Legro, adopted each other when she was 6 years old. They enjoyed 8 wonderful years together serving at church, going to musicals, attending Patriots games, and visiting Walt Disney World many times.
KK loved spending time with her grandparents, Norman and Norma Legro. She particularly enjoyed all her Nannie’s cooking and teasing her Grampy gave her great delight. She had fun spending time with her uncle, aunt, and cousins at family barbeques.
KK’s love for Jesus was most beautifully seen in the way she cared for others and how she lived out her philosophy “love like you’ve never been hurt.” Whether it was singing “Jesus Loves Me” to the babies she loved so much or giving a “special KK hug” to a nurse so she could share the love of Jesus with another patient that might need it, KK loved well. Her heart’s desire was that her birth family, whom she prayed for often, would also know Jesus so she could see them again in heaven.
All who knew and loved KK are invited to celebrate her life Friday, June 2, from 6-8 p.m., at the Chapel of the Cross, 160 Flanders Rd., Westborough. We will celebrate with a “Patriots and Princess Party” – no black clothing allowed with the exception of a few rogue football fans (whom she would razz for not rooting for the Pats).
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the David A. Pickering Westborough Funeral Home.
