Marlborough – Steven Roach, president and CEO of UMass Memorial-Marlborough Hospital, recently presented a check for $5,000 to Fran Hurley, president and CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of MetroWest. This spring, the hospital held a “SEND A KID TO CAMP” campaign and employees and members of the hospital medical staff donated funds as well goody bags filled with first aid items such as band aids, sunscreen, hand sanitizers, ice packs and other necessary supplies to be used at the camp and in the clubs.
“As a community hospital, it is important that we promote and support programs that keep residents of the community healthy,” Roach said. “We decided to focus on keeping the kids of this area physically and academically active during the summer months and partnering with the Boys and Girls Clubs of MetroWest was the perfect choice for us.”
“We are honored to accept this donation from the hospital,” stated Hurley. “We will be able to provide summer camp scholarships to 27 children and we can always use first-aid items not only at the camps but also at our clubs located in Hudson, Marlborough and Framingham. We are fortunate to have Marlborough Hospital as such a supportive community partner with the Boys and Girls Clubs of MetroWest.”
