Marlborough – Rose M. Zydlewski, OFS, a resident of Marlborough for over 50 years, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on Nov. 12, 1931 to Sophie (Lesniak) and Anthony Romek.
Rose’s life was devoted to her family and the Church. She recently celebrated her 55th anniversary to her loving husband, Walter R. Zydlewski.
She is also survived by her four children (Anthony, Douglas, Joseph, and Diane) and their spouses (Susan, Christine, Gayle, and Kevin), along with her four grandchildren (Michael and his wife Catherine, Emily, Benjamin, and Orion).
Rose was an active member of the Rosary Sodality at St. Ann’s Church. She was professed to the Secular Franciscan Order (OFS) in 1999 and received into the St. Ann Fraternity. Recently, she served as the Formation Director for the Fraternity. At the St. Bernadette’s Parish, she served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and co-chaired the Altar Society Ministry.
Rose was an avid reader and loved to travel to Eastern and Western Europe to learn of its history. She also enjoyed many crafts, especially sewing crafts such as knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint.
Great appreciation is extended to the staff of the Constellation Hospice for their loving care.
Those wishing to celebrate the life of Rose are invited to visit Friday, July 7, from 5-8 p.m., at the William R. Short & Son Funeral Home, 95 West Main St., Marlborough. Her funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 8, at 10 a.m., at St. Bernadette Parish, 266 Main St., Northborough.
