Hudson – Feng Sushi & Grill in Hudson is gaining a reputation for its top quality fresh ingredients and innovative flavors. Tucked away in an unassuming mini strip mall on the town’s main thoroughfare, Feng is an oasis of cuisine and ambience.
Feng opened about seven years ago with the idea to fill a void in the area for exceptional Japanese cuisine.
The sophisticated Asian-themed 60-seat restaurant features cozy tables, booths and a sushi counter, where patrons can watch their meals prepared in front of them.
The extensive menu features traditional Japanese sushi, sashimi and rolls, as well as unique creations crafted by owner Joe Lin and his staff.
The menu features 12 House Signature rolls, including the Crazy Sake Roll, the Lobster Bomb Roll, the Outstanding Roll and the Sweetheart Roll. The Feng Roll is a deep-fried lobster, asparagus, cream cheese and caviar roll topped with avocado, scallions and taro.
In the Hudson Roll, traditional ingredients such as shrimp and caviar with jalapeno. Other dishes use Latin ingredients like cilantro, chili pepper and tequila, which Lin said combine well with Japanese food.
Appetizers also incorporate Latin trends. The Feng Special Bite is fresh salmon on top of wasabi salsa guacamole and chips.
The menu also features teriyaki, tepanyaki and tempura selections. Lin noted that all of Feng’s marinades and sauces are made in house, assuring every dish is completely handcrafted.
There are also daily specials and a wide variety of seasonal appetizers. Specially priced appetizers include tuna cilantro, oysters, grilled chicken wings, edamame, pork gyoza, pork belly nachos, and wakame (seaweed).
Feng’s brand-new bar offers a menu of signature drinks that Lin and his bartender created – the Casanova, Cassis Collins, Lychee Martini and, of course, the Mai Tai – all using fresh-squeezed juice.
Feng is now adding live music and appetizer specials on Saturday nights. Beginning Sept. 23, live local bands will perform from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., including the Ken Clark Trio, Sept. 23; Greg Schuler, Sept. 30; the Lights Out Blues Band, Oct. 7; Sympli Whitney, Oct. 14; and the RPS Groove Band, Oct. 21.
Also on Saturday nights, patrons will receive a 20 percent discount on food totaling more than $30. Appetizers are three for $12 after 10 p.m. on Saturdays.
