To the Editor:
On behalf of our entire Westborough 300th Anniversary Committee and the Grande Parade Planning Committee, we would like to say a great big “THANK YOU” to the many organizations, businesses, and individuals who contributed to the immense success of our Town’s celebration on September 10. After more than a year of diligent planning, our Grande Parade did not disappoint! The many floats, bands, marchers, and vehicles that made their way down West and East Main Streets provided the spectators with a colorful and spectacular show! Thank you so very much to our Veterans and Military, our honored Marshals, our Elected Officials, our Town Guardians, our Educational Community, our Business Community, our Town Organizations, and our Town’s churches and temples. Everyone involved came into this parade to show his or her pride and love for our Town of Westborough!
Thanks, too, to the many folks who placed their chairs along the parade route bright and early on parade day and added to the early excitement as the parade units assembled in the staging areas. Thanks to the many homeowners who provided water and snacks to the participants as they waited for their turn to begin the 2.3 mile march at the start line. And, thank you to the thousands of cheering spectators who made us all feel so honored to be representing them on that day. Seeing the sea of smiling, appreciative faces along the route has created a memory that will last forever! In a time when there seems to be so much unrest in our world, we experienced a truly wonderful day!
This parade could not have been a success without the support of so many – our Westborough Police and Fire Departments, our Department of Public Works, Our School Department, Westborough TV, First Student Bus Company, the Westborough Civic Club, our Town Hall Offices, the Westborough Country Club, and the Autobahn Dealership. This list is endless, and we will be sure to thank everyone in a more personal manner in the coming weeks. We promised the Town a great parade, and we truly hope we delivered on that promise!
