Earl Hutt named grand marshal of Westborough Veterans Day Parade

Westborough – Westborough town officials have announced that Westborough native Earl Harris Hutt will be grand marshal of the Veterans Day Parade Saturday, Nov. 11.

Hutt was born Feb. 11, 1927 when his family lived on School Street. He went through the Westborough school system, attending the Harvey and Eli Whitney elementary schools and graduating high school in 1944. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After training in New York and hospital schooling in San Diego, Calif., he was stationed at the U.S. Naval Hospital on Bermuda before being discharged as Pharmacist’s Mate Third Class in 1946.

Hutt returned to Westborough and continued his education at MCP-Boston, graduating with a B.S. in pharmacy in 1949. For the next two years, he worked as a pharmacist at Blois’ Westboro Drug Co. on South Street before purchasing the Winchester Drug Store and moving to Winchester.

On June 16, 1951, Hutt married high school sweetheart Connie Krull and started a family. The couple had four children, Lenny, Guy, Cameron and Derreth.

In 1955, the family returned to Westborough and Hutt took a job with Bay State Abrasive Products Company. While moving up the corporate ladder at Bay State to assistant treasurer, he enrolled in the MBA program at Northeastern University evenings. He completed his MBA and joined the Board of Directors at Bay State Abrasives.

Hutt has held management positions at a number of corporations and has served on boards and been active in numerous charitable, public and religious organizations.
