Region – The sights, sounds and tastes of India come to life during the Worcester Art Museum’s Fall Community Day, Saturday, Nov. 4.  This day-long celebration of “Diwali – Festival of Light” commemorates the triumph of light over darkness. The event takes place at the museum, 55 Salisbury St., Worcester,  from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Diwali is India’s most celebrated national holiday, a colorful and joyous time when family, food, beautiful adornments, and displays of light all herald the embrace of knowledge over ignorance. This year’s festivities, held in partnership with the India Society of Worcester, includes Indian dress try-ons, Henna artists, hands-on activities, music and dance, food and more. This festival coincides with the Museum’s First Free Saturday, on which museum admission is free from 10 a.m. to noon.
