Eleanor A. Kelley, 87, of ShrewsburyShrewsbury – Eleanor A. (Belanger) Kelley, 87, a resident of Shrewsbury from 1951 – 2013, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in Worcester.

Born in Worcester to the late Leo O. and Alice (Couture) Belanger, she was the wife of the late John B. Kelley Jr., who died in 1989.

Eleanor graduated from Commerce High School in 1949. Before getting married, she worked at the Worcester Credit Bureau and the Worcester County Safety Council. She raised four children and returned to the workforce as an office manager at the former Child World in Shrewsbury.

She was a longtime parishioner of St. Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury. Eleanor enjoyed traveling, camping with family, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, John S. Kelley and his wife, Kathleen, of San Jose, Calif., Patricia G. Tranter and her husband, Bruce, of Worcester, and Nancy A. McLaughlin of Worcester; her daughter-in-law, Melissa Kelley of Grafton; eight grandchildren, Shaun Tranter, Kelley Targett, Meghan Dubois, Daniel McLaughlin, Brett Kelley, Makayla Kelley, Shauna Kelley, and Erica Kelley; and 2 great-grandchildren, Katherine and Addison Targett. She is also survived by her niece, Joanne Lemay, and her nephew, Raymond Carlson. Eleanor was predeceased by her son, Kevin M. Kelley, and her sister, Anna Carlson.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Salisbury Neighborhood of the Beaumont Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in Worcester and the Salmon Hospice for the wonderful care given to Eleanor.

Family and friends will celebrate Eleanor’s life Thursday, Nov. 2, from 5-8 p.m., at the Chiampa Funeral Home 〜 The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, on the Common, Shrewsbury Center. The funeral for Eleanor will be held Friday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
