Marlborough – Incumbent David Doucette and three-term Councilor-at-large Richard Yurkus will compete for the Ward 2 Council seat in the Nov. 7 biennial municipal election. They defeated former Councilor Richard Jenkins and James Jumonville in the Oct. 10 primary election. Doucette won the Ward 2 seat in 2015, defeating four-term City Councilor Paul Ferro.
Also vying for reelection is Mayor Arthur Vigeant, who is being challenged by Edward ”Skee” Bigelow, former Marlborough fire chief, who opposed him unsuccessfully in the 2015 election. Vigeant is seeking his fourth term as mayor. He served 18 years on the City Council, including nine years as president. Bigelow had a 25-year career in the local fire department.
In Ward 3, incumbent Matthew Elder and J. Christian Dumais are again vying for the seat. In the last city election, Elder received 405 votes and Dumais 265.
Seven candidates are seeking the four at-large seats, including incumbents Peter Juaire, Mark Oram, Michael Ossing and Kathleen Robey. Joining the contest are Maureen Brennan – who unsuccessfully ran for an at-large seat in 2015 – Adam Crossman and Michael Newton.
