Robert L. Hanson, 71, of MarlboroughMarlborough – Robert “Bob” L. Hanson, 71, of Marlborough, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at St. Camillus Healthcare in Whitinsville, with his family by his side, after a courageous fight against Alzheimer’s for over 10 years. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years, Diane V. (MacDonald) Hanson.

Bob is also survived by his two children, Amy J. Anzalone and her husband, Michael, of Coventry, R.I. and Robert L. Hanson Jr. of Nashua, N.H.; four grandchildren, Paige and Parker Hanson of Northborough and Michael and Matthew Anzalone of Coventry, R.I.; a daughter-in-law, Donna Hanson of Northborough; his sister, Cheryl Hanson of Framingham; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Voyle M. and Errna (Christianson) Hanson; two brothers, Richard Hanson and James Hanson; and a sister, Beverly Ballard.

Bob was born in and a lifelong resident of Marlborough, where he was raised and graduated from high school. After graduation, he earned an Associate’s degree in Engineering from UMass Lowell and worked for Tyco and Data General.

Bob was a long-time member of the Marlborough Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed riding his snowmobiles in the winter and motorcycles in the summer. He was also a classic car enthusiast and he especially loved his Corvette. He was an animal lover, especially his springer spaniel, “Murphy,” who also predeceased him.

Calling Hours will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 4-7 p.m., at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson. A Celebration of his Life will be held Thursday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, followed by a procession to Evergreen Cemetery in Marlborough for burial.
