Westborough – The Veterans Day memorial events in Westborough will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, beginning at 9 a.m. at VFW Post 9013 on Milk Street. All participants meet for coffee and pastries. At 9:20 a.m., the bus will depart for Minuteman Park, followed by Pine Grove Cemetery and Forbes Municipal Building. At each stop, there will be invocations and wreath-laying at the World War I, World War II, Korean, Vietnam and Gulf War memorials, followed by volleys of rifle fire and the playing of Taps by the Westborough High School Band.

Special guests include State Senator James Eldridge, state representatives Hannah Kane (R-Shrewsbury), Carolyn Dykema and Danielle Gregoire, Westborough selectmen, Gold Star mother Rita Lee and Grand Marshal Earl Hutt.

The WHS a cappella group Don’t Panic will sing the National Anthem at the Forbes Municipal Building stop.

From there, participants that wish to march to the Westborough Rotary services will do so at this time and those who wish to ride the bus may do so. All veterans are encouraged to join. Services will include wreath-laying, invocation, rifle fire at 11:11 a.m. and Taps.

Following the services, Commander William Harris will offer collation for participants and invited guests at the VFW Post 9013.
