Marlborough – Phong Thi Nguyen, 87, passed Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of the late Phuc Tran, who died in 2005.
She was born in Vietnam, the daughter of the late Phong Trong and Minh Thi Nguyen, and moved to Marlborough. She lived in Marlborough for the past two-and-a half years.
She is survived by seven sons, Hung Tran of Denmark, Qui Tran of Canada, Sang Tran of California, Thanh Tran of Georgia, Nghia Tran of Georgia, Duc Tran of Denmark, and Phuc Tran of Denmark, and one daughter, Bau Vuong of Marlborough. She leaves behind 24 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one granddaughter, An Vuong.
Phong will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She loved spending time with her family and going to Mass. Her laughter and kind heart will be sorely missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral Friday, Nov. 17, at 9 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Nov. 18, from 5-8 p.m., in the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St., Marlborough.
